PocketGeiger software are available for various devices; iPhone, iPad, Android (Nexus, Galaxy, etc.), ARDUINO and Windows PC. The applications except for iOS are open sourced and based on Creative Commons (CC BY) license. You can download the software from our support page.

HIGH-ACCURACY / 超高精度センサ搭載！


ポケットガイガーでは、ドイツFirstSensor社の放射線検出半導体（PINフォトダイオード）を採用、その中でも量産用として世界最大級の感受面積（100平方ミリ）を持つ製品「X100-7」を搭載しました。同社の放射線センサは、NASAのX線望遠鏡にも使われており、ガイガーミュラー管(GMT)やシンチレーターと比べて経年劣化が無いなど、優れた特性を持っています。

PocketGeiger has X100-7 PIN Photodiode for gamma-ray detection, having large scale, effective sectional area (100mm^2), manufactured by FirstSensor corporation which has also supplied similar sensor for NASA's X-ray telescope. Generally, the efficiency of PIN photodiode sensor is extremely stable and has no age-related degradation, compared with GMT (Geiger–Müller tube) or scintillator crystal.

    PocketGeiger is the only dosimeter connecting to a smartphone without battery. You can share dose rate information using the small and mobile sensor via smartphone network on its Facebook group. There are various people having different expertise such as circuit engineer, radiation specialist or researchers in the group.

    ACCURACY & SENSITIVITY/ 感度と精度について


    ポケットガイガーでは、定期校正不要な線量計を安価に実現するため、「PINフォトダイオード方式」を採用しています。シンチレーター結晶やガイガーミュラー管を使った高価な線量計と比べると感度が低いため、測定に２分程度の時間がかかります。しかし、このように十分な時間をかけて測定することで、価格が80倍以上の線量計と比べても遜色のない高精度な結果を得ることができます。

    PocketGeiger requires about two minutes to get reliable readings because it uses PIN photodiode detector having lower sensitivity compared with expensive sensors such as Scintillation or Geiger Muller tube that are about a hundred times the price. But it has a great accuracy as well as other sensors and has long term stability for years without age-related degradation.
